Towards the end of 2018 Guy and Nathan were facing problems with their methodology for tissue engineering heart muscle biological robots (biobots). At the time I was completing my Honours degree under Ionat Zurr and Stuart Hodgetts exploring problems hindering the viability of tissue engineered skeletal muscle biobots. Using knowledge gained during my honours I was able to design workflows and protocols for the tissue engineering and optimization of the cardiomyocyte biobots which were ultimately used in their work.
